Bruges beer cellar experience

Underground experiences in Bruges

Beer tasting experience

‘De Vergulde Fontein’ is the ideal setting for a private beer tasting along excellent Belgian beers and breweries we are proud of.

In the Middle Ages, beer was already brewed in abbeys. But only after the French revolution trappist monks started brewing for their own use while hundred of breweries started brewing in the 19th century on a larger scale for commercial use.

Due to the large competition and not limited by regulations, brewers were increasingly looking for unique flavors. Therefore they used different kinds of cereals, hops, yeast and different brewing techniques. This is why Belgium has become so famous for its beers.

As a result Belgians do not ‘drink’ beers but ‘taste’ it. They know how to appreciate the wide range of tastes and smells.
