Belgians are proud of their beers
Today, 300 Belgian breweries brew more than 1500 different beers. Due to the diversity, tradition and the continuous pursuit of quality, Belgian beers are highly regarded internationally.
Belgians are also increasingly drinking special beers where the aromas and flavors can be appreciated. This is what we want to share with our visitors to the “Vergulde Fontein”. This old 14th century (beer) cellar is the ideal setting to venture into a beer tasting with friends or family.

“Old Flemish Brown” tasting
Unknown is unloved. This also applies to the Flemish red-brown beers. This beer style, also called old brown, is an old Belgian beer type from the province of West and East Flanders.
7 different beers from the region were tasted blind (10-15 cl).
Ultimately our tasters liked Rodenbach classic, Ichtegemse Grand Cru, Oud Bruin (‘t Verzet) and Vanderghinste the most.
